The lack of access to proper healthcare and education is a serious issue that affects many children in under-served communities. According to UNICEF, 2,300 children in Nigeria die from diseases that can easily be treated and cured. This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need for initiatives aimed at improving the health and education conditions of children in these communities. The consequences of neglecting these issues can range from the outbreak of diseases to poor academic performance, with the worst-case scenario being death.
Project Hale and Hearty by Hale Space is aimed at improving the education and health conditions of kids in under-served communities, has recorded a successful pilot stage in the Baptist Primary School in Ogbogbo community.
This initiative has had significant impact not only in the Baptist Primary School but also in the neighbouring communities, including Imegun, Iworo, Erigo, Ijari, and Igbeba, as well as 11 Local governments in Ogun State.
The project has also recorded considerable impact on the community by providing direct and indirect benefits to its beneficiaries. In total, the project has had 450 direct beneficiaries, comprising learners who have had access to quality education and healthcare services. Additionally, 29 indirect beneficiaries, including school staff, have benefited from an equipped sickbay, which has improved the quality of care provided to the learners.
The project provided free medical outreach services to 160 beneficiaries, which have significantly improved the health conditions of learners and the community at large. Additionally, the project has distributed drugs to learners/beneficiaries across selected schools in 15 primary schools across 11 Local Governments in Ogun State.
Project Hale and Hearty has made significant strides in improving the education and health conditions of kids in under-served communities. Its impact has cut across multiple communities in Ogun State and has directly and indirectly benefited thousands of learners/beneficiaries. The project’s success can be attributed to its well-structured approach, which included grant, fundraising, and stakeholder collaborations resulting in the provision quality and affordable healthcare services.
